New York Fashion Week: We Make You Confident in Your Clothes, or we are out of business.
Check out this blog post on our time learning from designer 3.1 Phillip Lim this past month at NYFW 2024.
We've got all kind of stories, tips, and tricks to share about our time at New York Fashion Week recently, but the experience that takes the cake for us was most definitely our time at the designer session Q&A with designer 3.1 Phillip Lim. This year, NYFW offered opportunities for creatives to come and hear from designers during these sessions. It was hosted in the backstage area, which was SO FUN and included free coffee from Bluestone Lane, getting your hair done by Tresseme, and more!
In a lot of ways, hearing Phillip's talk on his way of doing business and reaching his customers was very encouraging for us. In a world of high fashion, trends, and things that can feel inaccessible, everything Philip said about his clothing line went back to two things:
Do what you love & what you are passionate about
Serve the people around you.
For Phillip, an Asian American, this has meant stay in his office in China town and make and design clothes for the people he knows who are in his context. One of the most gripping things he said was... "If the clothes don't fit, I am out of business. If you don't feel good in the clothes, I am out of business. If the zipper doesn't work, I am out of business." Everything seemed to go back to reaching the customer and the people in his life.
For us at Welldressed, we feel so similar. Our desire is for everything in our business to be about you- our customers, our clients, and our friends. If the clothes are inaccesible, too expensive for your budget, don't make you feel more sure of yourself- we have not done our job. Everything we do goes back to helping you feel confident in your clothes- end stop. If we aren't doing that, we are out of business.
Welldressed 2025: Ins!
With a start of a new year, everyone is doing their 2025 “ins& outs.” Our personal stylists want to give you some fun style trends and tips they are excited to see and try this year!
One of our favorite things to follow as the new year starts is everyone's in's and out's of the year. Of course- we had to work on our own to share with you! In true (not so) Mundane Monday fashion, we hope that you will try these new style tips at home- and share your pictures with us!
POLKA DOTS
A statement pattern that is always in, but we're noticing is everywhere this winter. If you're afraid of starting with a pattern- but want to get out of your comfort zone- this one is for you! This black and white pattern looks good on everyone.
ROMANTIC RUFFLES
Chloe set the scene with this in 2024 with their iconic fashion show- and now these textures are everywhere! We love how billowy these different pieces look. They scream ultra feminine and we are here for it. Most major stores have pieces that resemble this concept- so show us your take!
STATEMENT COLLARS
Looks like the large collars on blouses aren't going anywhere. Ganni and Damson Madder have led out in this over the last year, and we will continue to see more of them! An easy way to incorporate them into your wardrobe is by throwing them on under a sweater. For a more casual look, you could even try it under a sweatshirt!
ACCESSORY CHARMS
On a bag, on a tennis shoe, even on a boot. Why not make parts of your outfit even more fun with charms? We've even seen some stores with "charm bars" for your bags! This is the ultimate way to show self expression. Some of our favorites we've found recently at Anthro. If you've got charms on your bags & shoes- we want to see!
PEEPTOE HEELS
The kitten heel has been all the rage the last couple seasons, and while it doesn't seem to be going anywhere, peeptoes on back on the rise! Especially closer to spring and summer, we will continue to see more of these. Make sure and stay on top of those pedicures.
STRAIGHT DENIM
Denim has been all over the place the last few years. In 2025, we expect to see less of baggy, oversized jeans, and more women starting to own & wear more classic, straight cut denim. Plus- this looks the best on everyone.
SILVER JEWELRY
While we believe that both gold and silver are ALWAYS in, and you should wear what looks best with your skin tone and what you enjoy the most- silver is taking over everywhere. Dare to try it out. If you're nervous, try mixing metals!
LIKING YOUR CLOSET
How frequently are you looking at your closet and thinking "I don't have anything to wear" or "I hate all this stuff." We're done with you being overwhelmed and sick of your closet. Let yourself be at ease in your closet in 2025- we can help with this!
Dressing for yourself and feeling confident in your clothes are trends that are always in.
Which of these pieces are you most excited to try in 2025?!
I (Megan) got a few polka dot pieces for my birthday so will be experimenting with those. I've also been collecting charms for my bag (stay tuned) and my mom, Bronson, and Abby all got my bag charms for Christmas- they know me.
We know that Abby will definitely be trying the romantic ruffles- can't wait to see how she styles them!
A New Closet for Christmas
One of the best Christmas gifts you could receive is to hire personal stylists to help you build new looks with your wardrobe!
Your husband's holiday party is next week. You walk in the closet with dread scouring through your hangers knowing nothing in here will make you feel confident enough to pretty to enjoy small talk with his co-workers. You beg him to let you stay home because you don't have anything to wear.
Your family is taking Christmas card pictures- and you refuse to be in them because you don't feel confident in how you look because there's nothing you love to put on in your closet.
The idea of attending that Holiday Cocktail party with your girlfriends sounds fun, but you end up denying the invite because all you have that fits right now are leggings and you don't have a cute fit to wear.
Any of this sound familiar? You're not the only one! And if it sounds like some thoughts of feelings that resonate with you... sounds like you may need some fresh eyes & perspective to come in and help you build looks with hat you own in your closet to get you saying YES to all the right things in your life again.
Send us to your parents, significant other, bff, aunt, etc.. and let them know you want a closet cleanout for Christmas, and we can get a gift card wrapped up under the tree real nice for you. It's a present that will last way past Christmas Day!

(Not so) Mundane Monday: Oxfords can be cool.
Oxford button downs are a staple that every person needs in their closet. But how do we style them?! We’ve all been confused before about how to make them look cool and put together. Hear from personal stylists about how to make the most of this cool classic!
We've been brainstorming about how to get our followers more involved and teach you some things to practice along the way. May we introduce... (not so) Mundane Mondays! Twice a month, we will be posting on Mondays highlighting different fashion tips, tricks, and features we want to share with you! Our hope is that YOU will try our fashion challenges too, and send us your fits!
YOU'RE NOT MARRIED TO CRISP WHITE
While it's certainly important to have a plain white shirt in your wardrobe-add some pattern and color to those button downs! Abby's Simon Miller blue stripped Oxford is perfect. Plus- it also ties in the back (bonus points for the way she had it unbutton the last couple buttons to give the fit some dimension)!
ROLL UP THE SLEEVES
Rolling up the sleeves of a dress shirt instantly makes the look more feminine. Rarely- if ever- should you leave the whole sleeve down on an Oxford. Rolling up the sleeves give it a more modern & cool look, while also showcasing your accessories.
TUCKING WORKS WONDERS
Looking at the picture thinking the waist looked snatched? Yes, clothes are supposed to FIT! Mistakes we can often make with an Oxford it just letting them hang. They are meant to be styled- and one of the easiest ways to do this is tuck it in (multiple ways to tuck- complete, French, or one side in, one side out). Add a good belt and you're got an elevated look.
IF YOU DON'T TUCK- WEAR A FITTED TEE UNDERNEATH
Having a fitted tee or tank top underneath will give the outfit shape & dimension, so the Oxford isn't just hanging on your body. Wearing it open with a fitted option underneath gives a more breezy, casual look!
LAYER WITH A SWEATER
One of my favorite ways to wear an Oxford is underneath other pieces of clothing. Last fall, I added one underneath a sweatshirt and it instantly elevated the fit and made it look less like loungewear. A few other staple ways to do this is under a vest or classic crew neck sweater!
THE CARRIE BRADSHAW
Many of us remember the fit that Carrie made of the dress shirt. May we also remember that this was because she fell in the pond with BIG and had to wear this home... it wasn't supposed to be a dress (it's way too short) but the concept stuck. We'd like to suggest a few more tasteful ways to try it (almost) like a dress!
Notice how she added the white mini skirt underneath and the fanny pack bag to create shape at her waist!
Love this with the biker shorts underneath and the high boots. Accessories are always key as well- notice the jewelry and the bag!
BUY LESS, SPEND MORE.
Hear from personal stylists on how to spend more on the right pieces, but buy less. Maybe one of the reasons you’re having trouble building looks in your wardrobe is because you’re buying the wrong things- and buying too much!
BUY LESS- SPEND MORE
One of the easiest ways we can waste money is by purchasing a bunch of cheap clothes of poor quality. I'm guilty of this too because life is EXPENSIVE! So how do we invest in our wardrobe when everything costs so much? We'd love to encourage you tobuy less, spend more.
What if... you bought a $200 of jeans that you felt confident in each time, that lasted you two years- instead of buying 3-4 pairs of $50 jeans that are MEH and you hate wearing?
What if... you invested in a $150 blazer made of quality materials that you can wear each season- instead of buying a cheap one for $40 that you hate and isn't comfortable?
What if... you purchase that staple dress for $140 dress that is your "go to" outfit every time you're bloated or self conscious and it looks good EVERY TIME - instead of paying $45-50 for multiple dresses that hang in the back of your closet that you don't like how you look in?
What if... you purchase quality button down's and sweaters (maybe 2 of each for $70) that you can wear at least once a week with anything- instead of a bunch of $35 shirts you don't ever wear that waste space in your closet?
While we are style experts- we have to practice these things as well! I still regularly buy too much stuff because it's on "sale" and it looks "cute." But every time I make a quality investment purchase- I don't have much buyer's remorse. I know it was worth the extra $$$.
Your best next step if you're feeling these tensions?! Hire us for Wardrobe Refresh and we can help you build those basics (they don't have to be boring)!
(Not So Mundane) Monday: ADD A BOW!
Join our personal styling challenge- ADD A BOW!
We've been brainstorming about ways to get our online friends more involved with practicing some styling tips on their own. May we introduce... (not so) Mundane Mondays! Twice a month, we will be posting blogs on Mondays highlighting different fashion tips, tricks, and features we want to share with you! Our hope is that YOU will try our fashion challenges too, and send us your fits (stylist@welldressedchs.com OR DM is on instagram-@welldressedchs)!
IN YOUR HAIR
One of the easiest ways to incorporate bows into your outfits is by adding them as an easy accessory to your hair. Chances are, in just about any store you. walk into these days, there are fun bows to purchase!
May we recommend.....
Adding a fun organza bow to a braid
If you have shorter or more fine hair, add bow clips
If you want less of a statement piece, add a small ribbon to the back of your hair (we love the ones with sparkle).
ON YOUR BAG
Odds are that you have seen all the bag accessory content lately! We love all the bag charms and are also seeing lots of bows on bags as well. This Coach bag is out of stock in many of the colors online. The best part? You can add ribbons like this yourself on a bag at home. Find an everyday purse and add on some bows!
ADDED TO A BUTTON DOWN
I recently saw a Tiktoker wear a denim button down unbuttoned with a lace ribbon as a bow at the top. I was obsessed! You can see in the photo she laced it through the top few button holes to create a bow on her own. We love the way it made this more casual look appear more feminine!!
WE WANT YOUR PARTICIPATION!
While you can certainly buy the products we linked here in the blog, you can also utilize what's in your closet! The most important part? Send us pictures of your challenge! You can text or email us your pictures, or better yet, tag us on insta!
